The Game

The Oilers host Northwood this week for Homecoming. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest is scheduled to begin at 2 pm in Donnell Stadium.

Coach Keys Weekly

Don't forget to tune into 88.3 FM "WLFC" for Coach Keys Weekly.  The radio show will be aired live from Fricker's every Monday evening during the season.  The show is aired live from 6-6:30 p.m. on Monday evenings.  Fans are encouraged to attend the show so they can listen live over the sound system and enjoy the great food Fricker's has to offer.

The Series

The Oilers currently trail in the all-time series against Northwood 12-8 dating back to the 1962 season when they defeated the Timberwolves 70-0.

The Timberwolves edged the Oilers by a score of 35-33 last year in Midland, Mich. The Oilers out-gained the Timberwolves 501-398 as Verlon Reed completed 26-of-44 passing attempts for 344 yards and three scores.

Lloyd Henry caught six balls for 93 yards and a score while Luke Hampton made four receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown. Anthony Federico recorded a career-high eight catches for 76 yards and a score in the game as well.

Chauncey Bridges rushed the ball 16 times for 99 yards and two scores while Dylan Blunk made five receptions for 69 yards in the game.

Zach Matracia led the defense with ten tackles, which included 2.5 stops for a loss and a forced fumble.

Head Coach Rob Keys

Head coach Rob Keys is in his fifth season at the helm of the Oilers football program in 2015.  He has recorded a 29-20 record with the program as a head coach, which includes a 25-19 mark in GLIAC games.

The Oilers

The Oilers suffered a 39-38 double overtime loss at Walsh last weekend. The Oilers out-gained the Cavaliers by a 475-392 margin in the game and racked up 30 first downs. They rushed for a season-high 328 yards, but had two turnovers.

Daiquone Ford led the offense with 178 rushing yards on 34 carries to go along with one touchdown. Marcus Jones churned out 101 yards and two scores on 15 carries while Chauncey Bridges had seven rushing attempts for 32 yards.

Rhys Gervais completed 14-of-18 passing attempts for 147 yards and a score. ylan Blunk caught four passes for 45 yards while Airion Kosak made four catches for 40 yards.

Daouda Sylla and Anthony Linnear led the team with seven tackles each. Myles Alexander contributed five tackles and two sacks as well while Chiebuka Chukwuneke had four stops and an interception.

The Timberwolves

The Timberwolves are coming off of a 30-14 loss at Michigan Tech last week and are currently 3-3 on the year with a 3-2 record in conference play.

Mark Morris leads the Northwood offense wtih 1,023 passing yards while Michael Fisher has paced the defense with 64 tackles, which includes 4.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage.

Moving on Up

Senior running back Daiquone Ford ranks fifth on the Oilers all-time rushing list with 3,142 career yards. Ford is chasing Dana Wright for fourth place on the all-time list. Wright racked up 3,335 career yards for Findlay from 1984-86.

Ford, who has battled injuries during his career with the Oilers, had a monster sophomore campaign when he was a regional finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy, the NCAA Division II equivalent of the Heisman Trophy. The Myrtle Beach, S.C. native racked up 1,789 rushing yards, the second highest single-season total in school history, and also darted his way to 24 touchdowns, the best total in the history of the program.

During his career, Ford has 12 career 100-yard games. His best game came in a 48-27 win over Lake Erie on Oct. 26, 2013 when he set school records with 44 carries for 317 yards and six touchdowns.

Ford has also rushed for 34 career touchdowns.

An Explosive Offense

The Oilers are averaging 529.3 yards of total offense on the season, the second best total in the GLIAC and the sixth best average in NCAA Division II.

Findlay's passing offense is averaging 332.3 yards per game, which is the ninth best total in the nation. They also lead the league in passing yards per contest.

Riding Rhys

Sophomore quarterback Rhys Gervais is leading the GLIAC in passing yards per game at 332.3. He has completed 133-of-206 (64.6%) passing attempts with 19 touchdowns and 4 interceptions.

Gervais ranks seventh nationally in passing yards per game (332.3) and total passing yards (1,994). He also ranks sixth in passing touchdowns (19) and 13th in total offense (337.5).

Gervais leads the conference in passing yards per game, total passing yards and passing touchdowns. He ranks third in the GLIAC in total offense.

Taking Care of the Ball

The Oilers have only turned the ball over five times this season, which is the best mark in the GLIAC. Their total is also the ninth best in the nation.
