The Series

The Oilers have never faced the Golden Tigers and Saturday's game will be the final for Findlay before heading into conference play. It will be a matchup that pits a team with a record-setting quarterback, a 100-yard per game rusher, and one of the nation's best receivers against a team that is known for stout defense, especially in the red zone.

Head Coach Rob Keys

Head coach Rob Keys is in his seventh season at the helm of the Oilers football program in 2017.  He has recorded a 40-28 record with the program as a head coach, which includes a 34-26 mark in conference games. Keys has led the Oilers to five winning seasons in his six years as head coach.

The Oilers

The Oilers improved to 2-1 on the season with a 55-17 win over William Jewell on Sep. 16 in Liberty, Mo.

The Oilers took control from the beginning and racked up 37 first downs while possessing the ball for 40:52. Their 23 first downs via rush finished one shy of setting a new school record. Findlay also churned out 587 yards of total offense, which included 367 rushing yards.

Findlay started the scoring with 8:23 remaining in the first quarter on a touchdown from Rhys Gervais to Jason Moore. That lead would extend to 20-0 before William Jewell finally cracked the board with a score of their own, making it 20-7. Another Oilers touchdown and later, a field goal from the Cardinals, would make the score 27-10 heading into halftime.

Coming out of the locker room, the Oilers continued to put the pressure on as they would find the endzone three more times in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. The starters would give way to the second unit for the final quarter of play, a quarter in which the Orange and Black would shut out WJU to help seal the 38-point win.

Senior Daouda Sylla paced the Oilers with 136 yards on 24 carries while junior Michael Campbell had 105 yards on 17 carries. Campbell also scored two touchdowns while Sylla crossed the goal line once.

Junior Rhys Gervais completed 16-of-19 passing attempts for 191 yards and four touchdowns while junior Jason Moore had six receptions for 65 yards and three scores. Moore now ranks third all-time at Findlay with 28 career touchdown receptions.

Senior Rhonald Houston led the defense with five tackles and an interception while junior Francis Cutchember had four stops.

The Golden Tigers

The Tuskegee Golden Tigers, who were ranked 22nd after week one this season before losing to Albany State in week two, enter the contest with a 2-1 record and sporting one of the best defenses in the country.

Through three games this season, Tuskegee has allowed just 42 points for 14.0 ppg allowed, ranked 14th in the country in that statistic. Their defense has not only prevented teams from scoring, but they have also scored themselves. TU's three defensive touchdowns this season are the most in the country. While the 347.3 yards of total offense allowed seems like a lot for a team that allows just 14 ppg, the Golden Tigers ramp up the pressure in the red zone where they are allowing scores just 40% of the time. They sport the nation's second-leading solo tackler in Osband Thompsan, a pre-season all-American, who is picking up 8.7 solo stops per game. He is ranked fourth in the country in total tackles, and first in the SIAC, with a gaudy 13.7 tackles per game.

Leading the Golden Lions offense will be sophomore quarterback Jamarcus Ezell, who played in all 12 games for the Lions last season. This year, Jamarcus has completed 10-of-26 passes for 165 yards and one touchdown.

Picking up the bulk of the carries on the groun is Hoderick Lowe who has run the ball 24 times for 122 yards and one score. Also expect to see carries from Justice Owens and Ahmad DeRamus, who each have 14 carries.

We Want Moore

After a 2015 where he had 69.7 receiving yards per game (11th in GLIAC), Moore vaulted his name to the list of the nation's top receivers in 2016. Last year, Moore averaged 101.4 receiving yards per game (third in GLIAC) and caught 15 touchdown passes (second in GLIAC). Moore's 15 TD catches in 2016 ranked third in the nation among returning wide receivers. Baddy Oliver (Colorado Mines) caught 26 TDs while Damon Gibson (MSU-Moorehead) caught 17.

This season, Moore has six touchdown passes caught, the most TD receptions in the country.

G-MAC Preseason Poll

The Oilers were picked to finish third in the eight-team Great Midwest Athletic Conference this season. Findlay received two first place votes and is selected to finish behind Ohio Dominican and Hillsdale College. Alderson Broaddus, last year's G-MAC champion, received one first place vote.
