Benson Earns Offensive Player of the Week

Findlay, Ohio – The Oilers rolled through their week ten opponent last Saturday, earning a 63-17 victory over the Malone Pioneers at Donnell Stadium. For his performance in that contest, sophomore Brian Benson has been named as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, Nov. 5.

Benson had been putting up career numbers in each of the previous two weeks, and that continued Saturday. Benson rushed 23 times for 221 yards and four touchdowns in the first half and had two carries for a net of zero yards in the second half before being pulled due to a lopsided scoreboard. His four touchdowns tied the conference single-game record while his yards are sixth in league history. Benson is the first Findlay player to record back-to-back 200-yard performances since 1985 while his ten rushing touchdowns are the most in a three-game stretch since Daiquone Ford rushed for 11 TDs in three games near the end of the 2013 season.

This is the first Player of the Week award for the Oilers' sophomore running back and is the third time this season that Findlay has had a Player of the Week selection.
