Slagel and Jefferson Earn G-MAC Player of the Week Honors

Findlay, Ohio – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) announced their Player of the Week selections following the tenth week of the football season on Monday, Nov. 11. After a statement win over Ashland University this past Saturday, Findlay's Nate Slagel and Christopher Jefferson each earned the award on their respective side of the ball.

Earning Offensive Player of the Week is senior Nate Slagel who turned in a special performance on Saturday. Slagel carried the ball 15 times and averaged 9.5 yards per carry to finish with a career-high 143 yards. He also scored two rushing touchdowns. Additionally, the Loveland, Ohio native had a pair of receptions, both of which were touchdowns, for 46 yards. This marks the third time this season that the Oilers have had the Offensive Player of the Week selection.

On the defensive side of the ball, another big game was turned in by Findlay's standout sophomore, Christopher Jefferson. In the game, Jefferson tied teammate Isaac Miles with a game-high 11 tackles, eight of which were solo stops. The Oilers' defensive back, who has been a turnover machine this season, also recorded a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and an interception. The interception was his ninth of the year which ties a Findlay program record and extends the G-MAC record which he set back in week six. This is the second time Findlay has earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, both of which belong to Jefferson.

The Oilers will play for at least a tie of the G-MAC Championship this Saturday in Donnell Stadium when they host #21 Tiffin University. That game will kick off at noon.
