Bostic, Niekamp Receive Honors From NABC

Senior forward Josh Bostic of The University of Findlay men's basketball team was named First Team All-Midwest Region while head coach Ron Niekamp was tabbed the Midwest Region Coach of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) who released their all-district honorees on Friday, March 13.

Bostic, the 2009 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Player of the Year and Midwest Region Player of the Year according to Daktronics, has averaged 17.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.6 steals per game for the top ranked Oilers this season.

The Columbus, Ohio native, who was also voted the GLIAC Tournament MVP after leading the Oilers to their fourth championship in the past six years, was a First Team All-American last year as a junior in voting done by the NABC.

Niekamp recently captured his fourth GLIAC Tournament title last Saturday with a 67-56 win over Grand Valley State University and has won eight South Division titles during his tenure with the Oilers.

Overall, Niekamp has posted a career record of 544-174 during his 24-year tenure with Findlay which includes a 164-49 mark in the GLIAC. He has also led his teams to a 18-4 record in the GLIAC Tournament and a 9-7 mark in the NCAA Tournament, reaching the Elite Eight in 2005 and Sweet 16 in 2008.
