#1 Oilers, #18 Bellarmine To Meet On Tuesday

The third session of the 2009 NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament was completed on Sunday, March 15 in Findlay, Ohio. Bellarmine University and The University of Findlay both advanced to the Sweet 16 and will battle on Tuesday, March 15 for the right to go to Springfield, Massachusetts for the Elite Eight.

In the first game of the second session, Bellarmine University defeated Lake Superior State University by a score of 92-83.

The Knights shot 62.5 percent (30-of-48) from the field and also connected on 27-of-39 free throw attempts in the win.

The Lakers meanwhile shot 44.3 percent (27-of-61) from the floor and drilled 15-of-32 (46.9%) of their three point attempts.

Bellarmine got big performances from Chartrael Hall and Justin Benedetti who scored 27 and 25 points respectively in the game.

Braydon Hobbs added 18 points while Nick Holmes chipped in 11.

The Lakers were led by Scott Perkins and Mark Morse who scored 19 and 18 points respectively.

In the second game, The University of Findlay defeated the University of Southern Indiana 81-59.

The top ranked Oilers shot 57.8 percent (26-of-45) from the field and also hit 9-of-18 (50%) three point tries.

The Screaming Eagles meanwhile connected on 44.2 percent (23-of-52) of their field goal attempts but hit only 6-of-8 (75%) of their free throw tries compared to a 20-of-27 (74.1%) showing at the charity stripe by Findlay.

Senior forward Josh Bostic led the Oilers with 25 points and five rebounds while sophomore guard Nathan Hyde connected on five triples en route to 18 points.

Junior guard Marcus Parker added 16 points and seven assists while senior center Lee Roberts had seven points and ten boards.

Southern Indiana got 17 points from Jamar Smith while Marvin Gray added 13.

Findlay and Bellarmine will now play for the right to go to the Elite Eight on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
