Bulldogs Bite #19 Oilers 86-77

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked 19th in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, was defeated for the second straight game as they fell 86-77 to Ferris State University on Saturday, February 6 in Big Rapids, Michigan. The loss gives the Oilers a 16-5 record on the season with a 12-4 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Bulldogs came out smoking in the first half, hitting 17-of-25 (60.0%) shots from the field as Justin Keenan poured in 20 points for Ferris State.

The Oilers however remained in the game as they hit 17-of-33 (51.5%) shots and trailed by only one point at 40-39 when the opening period buzzer sounded.

The Bulldogs then continued their torrid shooting pace in the second half as the Oilers failed to get over the hump, falling to 3-5 on the road this year.

As a team, Findlay shot 46.7 percent (28-of-60) from the floor while Ferris State connected on 60.0 percent (30-of-50) of their field goal attempts.

The Bulldogs also hit 8-of-16 (50.0%) shots from three point land and scored 42 points in the paint.

Individually, junior guard Nathan Hyde and freshman guard Aaron Robinson led the team with 21 points apiece.

Hyde drained 7-of-14 shots from the field while Robinson set a new career-high in points with a 9-of-17 shooting performance.

Junior forward Tyler Sparks also reached double figures with 12 points while senior guard Marcus Parker chipped in 11 points and eight assists.

Keenan led the Bulldogs with 35 points on 13-of-19 shooting.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Thursday, February 11 when they face Northwood University at 8:00 p.m. in Midland, Michigan.
