Oilers Smack Wildcats 75-56

The University of Findlay men's basketball team came away with a 75-56 win over Northern Michigan University on Saturday, February 20 in Croy Gymnasium. The victory gives the Oilers a 19-6 record on the season with a 15-5 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers jumped out to a 42-28 lead in the opening half and then cruised through the second period as junior guard Nathan Hyde scored 24 points to pace the team.

Hyde drained a career-high 7-of-10 shots from behind the three point line and also added four rebounds and a career-high two blocks.

Junior center Jason Wehri scored 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting while freshman guard Aaron Robinson had 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block during the game.

Junior forward Tyler Sparks also reached double figures, scoring ten points to go along with 11 rebounds while senior guard Marcus Parker chipped in nine points and seven assists.

As a team, Findlay shot 44.1 percent (26-of-59) from the floor and drained 8-of-17 (47.1%) three point attempts. They also out-rebounded the Wildcats 38-29 and held them to a 9.1 percent (1-of-11) shooting clip from three point range.

The win gave Findlay their ninth GLIAC South Division title since joining the conference during the 1997-98 campaign and they have now won eight out of the last nine divisional crowns overall.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Thursday, February 25 when they face Ashland University at 7:30 p.m. in Ashland, Ohio.
