#8 Oilers Calm Storm 76-53

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked eighth in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, defeated Lake Erie College by a score of 76-53 on Thursday, January 13 in Croy Gymnasium. The win gives the Oilers a 13-1 record on the season with a 6-1 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers jumped out to a 41-23 lead at the break and never looked back as they shot 53.4 percent (31-of-58) from the floor in the game. They also out-rebounded the Storm 39-30 and dished out 16 assists in the victory.

Senior guard Nathan Hyde led the team with 15 points, six rebounds and three assists while junior guard Kyle Caiola contributed nine points, four rebounds and two steals.

Freshman guard Sean Samsel contributed eight points, sophomore forward Jack Smith had seven and senior center Jason Wehri, freshman forward Greg Kahlig and senior forward Michael Agunga each scored six points apiece in the win.

Kahlig also added five assists, four rebounds and two blocks while sophomore guard Aaron Robinson recorded four points and a team-high nine boards to go along with four assists.

Ethan Bradshaw led the Storm with 11 points.

The Oilers will be back in action on Saturday when they host Wayne State University at 1 pm in Croy Gymnasium.
