#11 Oilers Take Down Wright State 80-76

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked 11th in the nation, defeated NCAA Division I foe Wright State University by a score of 80-76 in an exhibition game on Friday, Nov. 1 at the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio.

The Oilers built a 42-37 lead at the break and then held off the Raiders in the second half with clutch free throw shooting down the stretch.

Findlay shot 55.6 percent (25-of-45) from the floor and also connected on 7-of-15 (46.7%) shot attempts from behind the three point line.  They also held a 39-33 advantage on the boards and held the Raiders to a mere 37.3 percent (25-of-67) shooting clip.

Sophomore guard Alphonso Baity and senior forward Greg Kahlig, a preseason All-American, led the way with 20 points apiece.

Baity connected on 6-of-8 shot attempts from the field, knocking down three triples in the process. 

Kahlig also made 6-of-8 field goal attempts during the game and went 7-of-11 from the line.

Junior forward Jake Heagen stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a steal while sophomore guard Dylan Kaufman contributed 11 points and three boards.

Freshman guard Ricardo Smith had a big impact off the bench for the Oilers as well, scoring four points to go along with five rebounds.

The Raiders received 19 points and ten rebounds from J.T. Yoho while A.J. Pacher had 16 points, four rebounds and three assists.

The Oilers will have to regroup quickly as they take on the University of Dayton tomorrow night.  The exhibition contest is scheduled to tip at 7 p.m. in Dayton, Ohio.
