#11 Oilers Fly Past Cardinals, Win 97-66

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked 11th in the nation, earned a 97-66 victory over Wheeling Jesuit University on Nov. 18 in Wheeling Jesuit, W. Va.

The Oilers, who are now 3-0 on the season, shot 58.3 percent (35-of-60) from the floor and canned 13-of-23 (56.5%) shot attempts from behind the three point line in the win.

Senior forward Greg Kahlig led the way with 30 points on 11-of-19 shooting in only 21 minutes of playing time.  He also splashed home 6-of-9 three point attempts and added four rebounds and two assists.

Sophomore guard Dylan Kaufman also reached double figures, scoring a career-high 19 points in the victory.

Kaufman connected on 7-of-10 shots in the game and also drained 5-of-7 three point tries.

Junior forward Jake Heagen contributed eight points and seven rebounds while sophomore forward John Staley had seven points, two rebounds and two assists.

Freshman guard Ricardo Smith added seven points, freshman guard Austin Gardner recorded six assists and senior forward Mark Frilling had six boards in the game.

Eric Siefert led the Cardinals with 14 points, eight assists, and six rebounds.

The Oilers will now have 17 days off before they open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at Lake Superior State University on Dec. 5.  The game is scheduled to tip at 7:30 p.m. in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
