Oilers Slay Dragons, Win 66-48 in Tiffin

The University of Findlay men's basketball team came away with a 66-48 win at Tiffin on Saturday, Jan. 18 to give them an 11-3 record on the season with a 7-3 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers only shot 41.8 percent (23-of-55) from the floor, but held the Dragons to a mere 30.5 percent (18-of-59) shooting clip.  Findlay also forced 17 turnovers and came away with seven steals in the victory.

Junior forward Jake Heagen paced the team with 13 points on 4-of-10 shooting.  He also added four rebounds and a steal.

Senior forward Greg Kahlig and sophomore guard Alphonso Baity each contributed 12 points apiece to round out the Findlay players in double figures.

Kahlig also added six rebounds and four assists while Baity hit all four of his field goal attempts and contributed six boards in the game.

Sophomore guard Dylan Kaufman recorded seven points, four rebounds and a pair of steals while red-shirt freshman Quaran Jones had seven points, three rebounds and a block off the bench for Findlay.

Joe Graessle led the Dragons with a game-high 15 points.

The Oilers will return home to host Ashland University on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
