Oilers Handle Storm, Win 74-49 in Croy

The University of Findlay men's basketball team won their sixth straight game with a 74-49 win at home against Lake Erie College on Saturday, Jan. 25.

The Oilers raced out to a 45-25 lead at the break and then went into cruise control mode during the second half to improve to 13-3 on the year with a 9-3 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers shot 46.7 percent (28-of-60) from the floor and limited the Storm to a mere 29.8 percent (17-of-57) shooting clip.  The Oilers also forced 18 turnovers and held a 16-4 advantage in points off of turnovers in the win.

Senior forward Greg Kahlig once again led the way for Findlay with 21 points, five assists and four rebounds.

Sophomore guard Dylan Kaufman added 15 points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists while junior forward Jake Heagen recorded his third double-double of the season with 11 points and a career-high tying mark of 12 rebounds.

Heagen also added four steals in the win and sophomore guard Alphonso Baity also reached double figures with 11 points.

Garrick Sims led the Storm with 17 points and nine rebounds.

The Oilers will now prepare to host Walsh University on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
