Storm Too Much for Oilers in Loss

The University of Findlay men's basketball team suffered a 79-60 loss to Lake Erie College on Feb. 14 in Croy Gymnasium. The loss drops the Oilers record to 13-10 on the season with a 10-9 mark in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play.

The Oilers came out sluggish and fell behind by a score of 34-20 at the break. Findlay shot a mere 33.3 percent (7-of-21) in the opening period and turned the ball over ten times. The Oilers picked up the pace in the second half, but the Storm continued to shoot the ball well and claimed their first ever victory over Findlay.

The Oilers ended the game by shooting 40.4 percent (21-of-52) from the floor, which included a 7-of-25 (28%) showing from three point range. The Storm meanwhile connected on 52.8 percent (28-of-53) of their shot attempts and canned 11-of-22 (50%) tries from long range.

Junior forward John Staley paced the Oilers with 11 points and nine rebounds while senior forward Jake Heagen had ten points and four assists.

Sophomore forward Tyler Stern-Tucker had nine points and four rebounds while sophomore guard Ricardo Smith chipped in eight points and three assists.

The Storm received a game-high 25 points from Jamil Dudley.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Feb. 19 when they host Walsh University at 7:30 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
