#18 Oilers Score 84-74 Win Over Northwood

The No. 18 University of Findlay men's basketball team came away with an 84-74 win at Northwood University on Nov. 27 to push their record to 5-2 on the year.

The Oilers built a 41-34 advantage at the break and then watched the Timberwolves open up the second half on a 10-1 run to take a 44-42 lead. Both teams would go back and forth from there until the Oilers took control in the final five minutes of the game for the victory.

Senior guard Martyce Kimbrough led four Oilers in double figures with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting while senior forward Taren Sullivan had 16 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Junior forward Alex White poured in a season-high 15 points on 7-of-13 shooting while sophomore forward Aaron Overhiser had ten points on 4-of-6 shooting.

Junior guard Trey Smith and freshman guard Tommy Schmock provided huge minutes off the bench and were instrumental in Findlay's win. Smith finished the game with nine points, four assists and three rebounds while Schmock had a season-high eight points to go along with five assists, three steals and two boards.

The Oilers shot 49.2 percent (32-of-65) from the floor and drained 10-of-20 (50%) attempts from behind the three point line. They also came away with nine steals and blocked a season-high six shots.

The Oilers will be back out on the hardwood again on Nov. 30 when they travel to Owensboro, Ky. for their first Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) contest against Kentucky Wesleyan. The game will tip at 8:45 p.m.
