White Leads #23 Oilers to 92-75 Win Over Battlers

The 23rd-ranked University of Findlay men's basketball team completed a successful road trip to West Virginia with a 92-75 win at Alderson Broaddus University on Jan. 5. The victory gives the Oilers a 12-2 record with a 6-1 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The Oilers shot 52.3 percent (34-of-65) from the floor and held a 40-29 advantage on the boards. They dominated the Battlers in the paint, outscoring Alderson Broaddus 46-22.

Senior forward Alex White had a monster day for the Oilers, scoring a career-high 35 points to go along with a career-high 15 rebounds. He made 13-of-17 attempts from the floor for his seventh double-double of the season and became the first Findlay player to grab 15 or more rebounds since former Oilers star Kyle Hunt snatched 15 against Gannon University on Feb. 26, 2000.

Senior guard Trey Smith also had a great game, scoring 22 points to go along with five assists. Smith made 7-of-11 shot attempts and finished 6-of-10 from long range. His six three pointers set a new career-high.

Junior forward Aaron Overhiser contributed seven points and five rebounds while sophomore forward Chazz George had seven points and four rebounds.

Coye Campbell led the Battlers with 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting.

The Oilers will return home to host Ohio Dominican University in a "Blackout" on Jan. 10. The contest is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. in the Croy Physical Education Center.

*The University of Findlay Sport and Event Club will be handing out t-shirts to students before the game begins for the Blackout. All other fans are encouraged to wear black to the game.
