Big 2nd Half Leads #18 Oilers to 87-51 Win

The 18th-ranked University of Findlay men's basketball team overcame a slow start to earn an 87-51 win over Trevecca Nazarene University on Jan. 24 in Nashville, Tenn. The victory gives the Oilers a 15-3 record on the season with a 9-2 record in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play.

The Oilers trailed late in the first half before taking a 38-29 lead at intermission. They then outscored the Trojans 49-22 in the second half to pick up another road victory, outscoring the Trojans 50-6 in the paint.

Findlay shot 56.5 percent (35-of-62) from the floor and held the Trojans to a mere 38.3 percent (18-of-47) percent shooting clip. They also forced 22 turnovers and hit 8-of-17 (47.1%) attempts from three point range in the win.

Senior forward Alex White led the way with his ninth double-double of the season. White finished the game with 18 points and 11 rebounds and shot 7-of-14 from the floor.

Junior forward Aaron Overshiser contributed 16 points and six rebounds while sophomore forward Chazz George had 12 points and three rebounds off the bench.

Senior guard Trey Smith and sophomore guard Tommy Schmock nearly reached double figures with eight points apiece while sophomore forward Antony Masterlasco had seven points. Schmock also contributed six rebounds, five assists and three steals in the game.

The Oilers will be back at it again on Saturday when they face Kentucky Wesleyan College at 3:15 p.m. in Owensboro, Ky.
