#9 Oilers Gain Sole Possession of 1st Place in G-MAC

The 9th-ranked University of Findlay men's basketball team claimed a 75-70 win over Hillsdale College on Feb. 9 in Hillsdale, Mich. The victory, which gives the Oilers sole possession of first place in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), improves their record to 19-3.

The Oilers, who are now 13-2 in league play, connected on 44.4 percent (20-of-45) of their field goal attempts and made a season-high 31-of-42 attempts from the free throw line in the victory. They also held a 38-22 advantage on the boards, which included ten offensive rebounds.

Sophomore forward Anthony Masterlasco led the way with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting while sophomore guard Tommy Schmock had 14 points and seven rebounds.

Senior forward Alex White posted his tenth double-double of the year with 12 points and 11 rebounds to go along with three steals, three assists, and a pair of blocks. The Oilers other big man, junior forward Aaron Overhiser, also had a good game with 11 points and six boards.

Senior guard Trey Smith also reached double figures with ten points while sophomore forward Chazz George scored five.

The Chargers, who connected on 49.1 percent (27-of-55) of their shot attempts, received a game-high 26 points from Davis Larson.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Feb. 14 when they head to Painesville, Ohio for a 7:30 p.m. contest against Lake Erie College.
