Oilers Earn No. 3 Seed | Go Dancing at Lewis

The University of Findlay men's basketball team will go dancing again this year as they were selected to participate in the 2019 NCAA Division II National Tournament. The first three contests of the Midwest Regional will be held in Romeoville, Ill. at Lewis University on March 16-19.

The Oilers, who will be making their 15th appearance in the national tournament in the past 18 years, have a 27-4 record on the season. They won the regular season Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) title and finished as the runner-up in the Great Midwest Tournament.

They will open the tournament as the No. 3 seed in the Midwest Regional on Saturday, March 16 against 6th-seeded Drury University who went 21-11 on the season and finished as the runner-up in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).

Findlay has reached the Sweet 16 in each of the past two tournaments. Overall they have a 20-13 record in tournament games. They also reached the Sweet 16 in 2008 and the Elite 8 in 2005. The Oilers are best known however for winning the 2009 NCAA Division II national championship with a perfect 36-0 record.

The winner of the Midwest Regional will advance to the Elite 8, which will be held in Evansville, Ind. on March 27-30.
