Oilers Sign T.J. Pugh

The University of Findlay men's basketball program has inked Shelby High School's T.J. Pugh, who will be eligible to compete for the Oilers during the 2021-22 campaign.

"T.J. is a big, versatile wing who can do a lot of great things with the ball in his hands," said head coach Charlie Ernst. "I'm excited to see the impact he will have on our program in the years to come."

Pugh, a 6'5, 205-pound wing, was a first team all-Ohio pick as a senior and is the second leading scorer in Shelby history behind former NBA player, Larry Siegfried. He was the Mid Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year and also earned District 6 Player of the Year honors. During his final season at Shelby, Pugh put up averages of 25.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 3.1 steals per game.

"J.J. is the true definition of a big guard because he is strong, athletic, a gifted ball handler, a crafty finisher, and a great outside shooter," said Shelby head coach Nathan Loney. His game is very complete, but he continuously works every day to be even better and will always try to go above and beyond to outwork his competition."
