Oilers to Host Rockets in Exhibition Game

The Oilers will host the University of Toledo in a charity exhibition game on Oct. 30 inside Niekamp Arena. The game, which will be a fundraising event for Mission Possible, is scheduled to start at 1pm.

Saturday's contest will NOT be video streamed in accordance with the wishes of both teams' head coaches.

Mission Possible is an organization that educates, provides leadership training, and cares for the many medical needs for children in Haiti.

Series Information

The Oilers and Rockets have played a number of exhibition games over the years and have met 29 times during the regular season. Toledo holds a 21-8 mark against the Oilers in those games.

The two programs last met in an exhibition game in Findlay to kick off the 2019-20 campaign. The Oilers built a 34-27 lead at the break, but the Rockets outscored Findlay 48-34 in the second half to pick up the victory two years after the Oilers beat Toledo 89-86 at home.

The Oilers shot 43.1 percent (28-of-65) from the floor and canned 12-of-35 (34.3%) attempts from three point range in the game. The Rockets meanwhile connected on 42.4 percent (25-of-59) of their field goal attempts, but hit only 6-of-24 (25%) tries from three point land. The difference in the game came at the free throw line where the Rockets were 19-of-24 (79.2%) and the Oilers were 0-of-3.

Aaron Overhiser paced the Oilers with 15 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Overhiser made 6-of-14 attempts from the field and was 3-for-6 from three point range.

Tommy Schmock reached double figures with 11 points to go along with six assists while Brady Wildermuth had ten points, two rebounds, and two steals off the bench.

Anthony Masterlasco nearly reached double figures with nine points while Tre'Maine Gray and Nathan Bruns came off the pine to chip in eight points apiece. Gray added three assists while Bruns grabbed eight rebounds.

Findlay

The Oilers finished last season with an 18-5 record and averaged 80.0 points per contest. Junior Nathan Bruns returns to lead the team after earning first team all-conference honors. Bruns averaged 13.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 55.7 percent from the floor. He also connected on 40.0 percent of his three point attempts, making one per game.

Senior Anthony Masterlasco returns after averaging 11.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. He was named second team all-conference last year and made 57.5 percent of his field goal attempts.

Senior Tre'Maine Gray and sophomore Andrew Owens are also returning starters for the Oilers. Gray averaged 8.7 points per contest while Owens scored 7.3 per game. Seniors Ethan Linder and Brady Wildermuth are also back after contributing 6.7 and 5.6 points per game, respectively.

The Rockets went 21-9 last year and averaged 81.1 points per game. Ryan Rollins returns to lead the team after averaging 13.7 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.

Setric Millner is also back after averaging 12.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while JT Shumate returns after chipping in 11.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per contest.
