Oilers Best Tiffin 82-81 in Overtime

The University of Findlay men's basketball team ended their regular season with an 82-81 win at Tiffin University in overtime on Feb. 26. The win gives the Oilers an 18-9 record with a 12-7 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play.

The Oilers trailed 67-63 with under 30 seconds to play in regulation before senior forward Deven Stover scored and was fouled. Stover's bucket cut the lead to two and senior guard Tre'Maine Gray grabbed the offensive rebound off of Stover's missed free throw to tie the game with 18 ticks left. Tiffin then missed a three at the buzzer as the game headed to overtime.

In the extra session, the Dragons were leading 81-80 with only seconds remaining, but senior forward Anthony Masterlasco scored on a layup with six seconds to play to give Findlay a one-point lead. The Dragons then missed another shot at the buzzer as Findlay ended their regular season with a victory.

The Oilers shot 54.8 percent (34-of-62) from the floor and were led by junior forward Nathan Bruns, who scored 23 points. Masterlasco added 17 while Stover racked up 15 points off the bench.

Senior forward Brady Wildermuth added 11 points while Gray had ten points and eight rebounds.

Junior guard Joey Edmonds had only four points, but posted a career-high ten rebounds.

The Oilers will now await their seeding in the 2022 G-MAC Tournament.
