Oilers Fall at Walsh in Semifinals

The University of Findlay men's basketball team fell 63-59 to Walsh University on March 4 in Canton, Ohio during the semifinal round of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). The loss gives the Oilers a 19-10 record on the season.

The Oilers held a 28-24 lead at the break but couldn't keep pace in the second half as Walsh got a big boost from their bench. Overall, the Cavaliers bench players outscored the Oilers bench players by a 27-13 margin.

Senior forward Deven Stover paced the Oilers with a career-high 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting. He also added six rebounds in the loss.

Freshman forward Josh Thorbahn also reached double figures with ten points while senior forward Anthony Masterlasco had nine.

Junior forward Nathan Bruns and senior guard Tre'Maine Gray each scored eight points apiece as well.

The Cavaliers were led by Quentin Toles and Tim Smith's 13 points.

The Oilers will now wait until Sunday evening to see if they qualified to compete in the 2022 NCAA Division II National Tournament.
