Findlay Falls to Ohio Dominican In Final Minutes

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay men's basketball team welcomed the Ohio Dominican University Panthers to Croy Gymnasium for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup on Saturday, Jan. 28. With the 88-85 loss, the Oilers fall to 12-8 overall with a 7-5 mark in the G-MAC while Ohio Dominican improves to 7-12 on the season with a 3-9 mark in the conference. 

Two minutes into the game, Findlay had jumped out to a 7-0 lead after a triple by Joey Edmonds and four free-throws by Deven Stover. The Oilers continued to build on that momentum taking a 12 point lead at the twelve minute mark. The Panthers closed the half strong, pulling the Oilers lead to just two at 46-44 entering the half.

The second half saw back-and-and forth action as both teams held leads multiple times. With 40 seconds left on the clock, the Oilers found themselves down by one. The Panthers had possession, missing a jumper and then grabbing an offensive rebound. With a dunk, Ohio Dominican grabbed a three-point lead with four seconds remaining in the contest. A three-point try at the buzzer was no good as Findlay suffered the defeat.

Senior Deven Stover  was the Oilers' leading scorer as he poured in 24 points, his first 20-point game this season. He made 6-of-12 shots from the floor including making 12-of-14 from the charity stripe. He also had a team-high eight rebounds.

Fellow senior Joey Edmonds contributed 13 points going 3-of-8 on the night, including 3-of-5 from deep. Coming off the bench scoring ten points was Cameron Shaw while starter Max Roth also scored ten. Roth tallied a team-high four assists while also grabbing a steal. 

Findlay is back in action as they hit the road this Thursday, Feb. 2 with a game against Lake Erie. That contest will tip off at 7:30 pm.
