McGeean Takes 2nd At Regional

The University of Findlay men's golf team tied for 11th place at the first NCAA Regional of the season on Tuesday, September 21 at the Hawks Head Golf Course in South Haven, Michigan. The Oilers shot a 308 in each of the two rounds to conclude the tournament with a 608.

Leading the charge was senior Joe McGeean who tied for second with a 142 (-2). McGeean shot a 72 in the opening round and then came back with a 70 in the second to finish one stroke behind Drury University's Andrew Funk, who won the tournament with a 141 (72, 69).

Michael Schmitmeyer (79, 74 – 153), Logan Cooke (79, 79 – 158), Matt Jones (78, 85 – 163) and Justin Watren (82, 85 – 167) also competed for Findlay at the event.

The Oilers will be back in action again on September 25-26 at the Grand Valley State University Invitational. The event will be hosted at the Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Michigan.
