Wardley Takes 3rd at GLIAC Championship

The University of Findlay men's golf team wrapped up the 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship on April 17 at the Virtues Golf Club in Nashport, Ohio. The Oilers finished the tournament with a 54-hole score of 925 after posting a 303 on Sunday. Their total of 925 (319, 303, 303), was good enough for tenth place at the championship event.

Individually, sophomore Cam Wardley paced the team and took the bronze at the tournament with a 5-over par score of 221. Wardley shot a 74 in the opening round before posting a 73 on Saturday. He then closed the tournament by carding a 74 on Sunday.

In the final round, Wardley posted four birdies and eight pars. During the tournament, the New Carlisle, Ohio native recorded a total of 11 birdies, which was the second best total among the 74 competitors. He had great success on the par 3's at the event, finishing -2 on those holes to lead the field.

Sophomore Justin Roth finished in 42nd place with a three-round score of 233 (78, 74, 81) while senior Dustin Lieber tied for 49th with a 236 (83, 79, 74).

Freshman Dylan DeWitt carded a 238 (84, 80, 74) to tie for 54th while freshman Andrew Bruns posted a 244 (84, 77, 83) to finished 65th at the GLIAC Championship.
