Oilers Lead After Round 1 at G-MAC Fall Preview
Owensboro, Kentucky- The University of Findlay men`s golf team competed in the first round of the Great Midwest Fall Preview at the Pearl Club on Monday, September 16. The Oilers are currently in first place among the field of ten Great Midwest Athletic Conference teams after shooting a first round score of 283 (-5) as a team.
The Oilers were led by sophomores Caleb Westfall and Hunter Foltz after each shooting 69 (-3). Their score places them each in a tie for 3rd place entering the final round.
Seniors Sam Griffith and Luke Kelly continued their excellent play after Griffith shot 72 (E), and Kelly just one shot back of that at 73 (+1). Griffith enters the final 18 holes in a tie for 6th and Kelly T10.
Rounding out the scoring for the Oilers is Kentucky native, Parker Haynes. He added a 75 (+3) in his 18 holes of play, good for T19 respectively.
The Oilers will enter the final round with a five shot lead. The second and final round will be played once again at The Pearl Club on Tuesday, September 17. The Oilers men's golf team will look to win their third straight tournament of the season.
