Oilers Jump to 3rd Place in Final Round | Kehres Lands on All-Tournament Team

Lexington, KY- The University of Findlay men's golf team finished up at the Findlay Spring Invite at the University Club of Kentucky on Tuesday, March 30th. The Oilers jumped up from fourth to third on the final day to end the tournament with the bronze medal. The Oilers finished the tournament with a team score of 875 (+11) after 54 holes. In the final round, they tallied a 302 to go along with their 286 and 287 from the previous two rounds.

Senior Brock Kehres completed his tournament with a 5th place finish overall, and a spot on the all-tournament team. Playing as an individual in the tournament, he finished the final round with a 73 (+1) to score a 213 (-3) for the 54-hole event. Kehres' 5th place finish is a career best and ties for the 5th best score in program history for 54 holes of play. His 40 pars were also the most pars scored in the field.

Following behind Kehres with a T7 finish for the tournament was freshman Donnie Professori. Professori combined his three rounds of 71 (-1), 71 (-1), and 73 (+1) to shoot one under par, 215 for the tournament. 

After having the second most pars made in the field for the tournament and competing as an individual, junior Hunter Foltz finished in 11th place. He fired scores of 72 (E), 73 (+1), and capped off the final round with a one under par 71 to finish at even par, 216 overall for the 54-holes.

Freshman Justin Atkinson finished his final round shooting a 74 (+2) to go along with a pair of even par 72's in the first two rounds. His three round total of 218 (+2) tied him for 13th overall.

Senior Parker Haynes ended the tournament in a tie for 23rd after combining rounds of 72 (E), 75 (+3) and 74 (+2) for a total of 221 (+5). Fellow senior Luke Kelly finished the tournament with a T30 finish. In the first two rounds, he fired a pair of one under par 71's, and ended with an 81 (+9) to score a 223 (+7). Kelly tied for the second most pars with 39 made pars in the 54-hole event.

Junior Caleb Westfall, playing as an individual, jumped 20 spots with his third round score of 73 (+1). He combined the 73 with his first two rounds of 74 (+2) and 77 (+5) for a total of 224 (+8).

Rounding out the Oilers was junior Tanner Grzegorczyk who tied for 57th in the event with a 231 (+15). He fired scores of 74 (+2) and 73 (+1) before finishing the final round with an 84 (+12).

The Oilers will have a little more than a week to prepare for their final regular season event on April 11th and 12th at the Greyhound Invitational at Purgatory Golf Club.
