Oilers Finish 3rd at Ken Partridge Invitational | Grzegorczyk Captures Individual Title

Nobelsville, IN- The University of Findlay men's golf team competed in the final day of the Ken Partridge Invitational at Purgatory Golf Club on Tuesday, April 12. Starting the day in 6th place, the Oilers jumped up three places to finish in solo third place. The Oilers combined rounds of 299, 298, and a final round 293 to finish with a 54-hole total of 890.

Starting the day in a tie for 23rd, junior Tanner Grzegorczyk paced the Oilers with a stellar 6-under par, 66 in the final round. With his 66 (-6) not only was the second best score for 18 holes in program history, but helped Grzegorczyk capture the individual title overall. His win marks his second of his career. He combined his 66 with previous round scores of 76 (+4) and 74 (+2) to shoot even par, 216 for the tournament. He would also go on to lead the tournament with 15 birdies made in the three rounds.

Freshman Justin Atkinson finished in a tie for 19th with a three round total of 223 (+7) combining rounds of 72 (E), 74 (+2), and 77 (+5). In a tie for 27th, senior Luke Kelly fired scores of 76 (+4), 74 (+2), and 75 (+3) to score a 54-hole total of 225 (+9).

Senior Brock Kehres tied for 56th in the event with a three round total of 232 (+16). After scores of 75 (+3) and 82 (+10), Kehres fired a final round 75 (+3). Freshman Donnie Professori rounded out the Oilers with a tournament total of 234 (+18) with scores of 81 (+9), 76 (+4), and 77 (+5), good for a tie for 68th.

Playing as individual, senior Parker Haynes finished in a tie for 31st and overall score of 226 (+10). Haynes combined two rounds of 74 (+2) on day one to go along with his final round 78 (+6). Junior Hunter Foltz competed as an individual as well finishing the tournament in a tie for 77th with scores of 79 (+7), 77 (+5), and 82 (+10) for a total of 238.

The Oilers will look to prepare for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship this upcoming week on April 18-19 in Lexington, Kentucky.
