Oilers Conclude Arendsen Invite | Take Second

Allendale, Mich.- The University of Findlay men's golf team concluded their first tournament of the fall today, Monday, Sep. 5, at the Arendsen Invitational at The Meadows hosted by Grand Valley State University. The Oilers finished the tournament with a 54-hole score of 876 (+24)  and finished in second place with  rounds of 295 (+11 ),  286 (+2), and  295 (+11). They finished in second behind Grand Valley State University who finished four-under par for the tournament.

Leading the Oilers was senior Tanner Grzegorczyk. After a standout day yesterday, in which he shattered multiple school records, he finished tied for first at six-under par. He recorded rounds of 70 (-1), 64 (-7), and 73 (+2). He tied Drew Coble from Grand Valley State who climbed the leaderboard after recording a round of 65 (-6). After a two hole playoff, Coble beat Grzegorczyk to take first.

Following Grzegorczyk was senior Hunter Foltz and sophomore Jonathan Green. They finished tied for 16th at ten-over par. Foltz recorded rounds of 75 (+4), 75 (+4), and 73 (+2), while Green carded rounds of 78 (+7), 71 (E), and 74 (+3). Right behind them was junior Donnie Professsori who finished at eleven-over par to tie for 18th. He shot rounds of 72 (+1), 76 (+5), and 76 (+5). Rounding out the lineup was senior Caleb Westfall. He finished in a tie for 64th after rounds of 85 (+14), 77 (+6) and 75 (+4). 

Competing as individuals were sophomore Tyler Vallee and junior Justin Atkinson. Vallee tied for eighth at six- over par with rounds of 71 (E), 78 (+7), and 70 (-1). Atkinson tied for twelfth at eight over-par after rounds of 73(+2), 71 (E), and 77 (+6).

The Oilers will be back in action Sep. 19 and Sep. 20 for the Doc Spragg Fall Invite at Findlay Country Club.
