Oilers in Third After Day One in Tenn. | Atkinson Leads Findlay

Sevierville, Tenn.- The University of Findlay men's golf team traveled south today, March 12, for the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate. The tournament, hosted by Tennessee Tech, boasts a predominantly Division I field. The Oilers are currently in a tie for third after day one of competition. They recorded a 18-hole round of 287 (-1).

They were led by junior Justin Atkinson. Atkinson fired an opening round of 67 (-5), the fourth best score in program history. He is one of just nine players to record the number. He recorded seven birdies and two bogeys on the day. Atkinson is tied for first.

Senior Hunter Foltz, who had a standout performance last week at the Lander Bearcat Classic, recorded a round of 72 (E). He is tied for 18th. Senior Tanner Grzegorczyk recorded a round of 73 (+1) and is tied for 28th. Senior Caleb Westfall carded a round of 75 (+3) and is in a tie for 48th. Rounding out the lineup for the Oilers is sophomore Tyler Vallee who shot a round of 81 (+9) to leave him in a tie for 80th. 

Competing as an individual in the event is junior Donnie Professori. Professori shot a round of 72 (E) to open the tournament and finds himself in a tie for 18th.

Findlay will be back in action tomorrow, March 13 for the second of three rounds. They are scheduled to tee off at 11:30am.
