Oilers Finish Fourth at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

Sevierville, Tenn.- The University of Findlay men's golf team finished fourth, Tuesday, March 14, concluding the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being hosted by Tennessee Tech University and held at the par-72, 6,880-yard River Course at the Sevierville Golf Club. Findlay shot a final round 304 (+16) to finish with a 54-hole score of 885 (+21). They finished 28 strokes behind the tournament champion Carson-Newman who recorded a 54-hole score of 857 (-7).

Junior Justin Atkinson recorded two solid rounds to open the tournament. He fired rounds of 67 (-5) followed by 70 (-2) and was in a tie for second heading into the final round today. Atkinson, who found himself four-over through the first six holes, struggled to regroup- shooting a 79 (+7) to leave him in solo sixth with a 54-hole total of 216 (E). 

Shooting rounds of 73 (+1), 74 (+2), and 73 (+1), was senior Tanner Grzegorczyk who finished in a tie for 14th with a three-day total of 220 (+4). Fellow senior Hunter Foltz finished in a tie for 32nd with a 54-hole total of 225 (+9). He recorded rounds of 72 (E), 77 (+5), and 76 (+4). Right behind him was senior Caleb Westfall who's 54-hole total was 227 (+11) with rounds of 75 (+3), 76 (+4), and 76 (+4). Rounding out the lineup for the Oilers was sophomore Tyler Vallee. Vallee recorded rounds of 81 (+9), 74 (+2), and 84 (+12) to leave him with a three-day total of 239 (+23).

Competing as an individual in the event was junior Donnie Professori. Professori finished in a tie for 20th with a 54-hole score of 222 (+6). He recorded rounds of 72 (E), 77 (+5), and 73 (+1).

Findlay will be back in action March 27 and March 28 for the Findlay Spring Invite, hosted in Lexington, Ky.
