Oilers in Sixth at Findlay Spring Invite

Lexington, Ky.- The University of Findlay men's golf team is playing host to the Findlay Spring Invite which began on Monday, March 27 at the University Club of Kentucky's Big Blue Course. Thirteen of the twenty teams in the field completed 36-holes today while others failed to finish due to darkness. Findlay was able to finish their rounds today and are currently in sixth place. They recorded an opening round of 299 (+11) before ending the day with a 286 (-2). The are twelve shots back of the leader- McKendree University.

Leading the way for the Oilers was junior Donnie Professori who recorded rounds of 75 (+3) and 70 (-2) to find himself in a tie for 14th at one-over par. 

Assisting him was Senior Tanner Grzegorczyk finished the day at three-over par after carding rounds of 72 (E) and 75 (+3). Coming in right behind Grzegorczyk was fellow senior Hunter Foltz. Foltz shot an opening round of 75 (+3) which he followed up with a 73 (+1) in the second round. He is in a tie for 33rd at four-over par. Rounding out the lineup for the Oilers are senior Caleb Westfall and junior Justin Atkinson who are both tied for 40th at five-over par. Westfall recorded rounds of 78 (+6) and 71 (-1) while Atkinson carded rounds of 77 (+5) and 72 (E). 

The Oilers also had a "B Squad" competing in the event. They are in eleventh after completing 36-holes, recording rounds of 291 (+3) and 305 (+17). 

They were led by senior Jack Soper who recorded rounds of 72 (E) and 73 (+1). He is tied for 14th at one-over par. 

Sophomore Tyler Vallee is tied for 33rd after rounds of 70 (-2) and 78 (+6). Freshman Luke Metzgar put together rounds of 77 (+5) and 74 (+2) to find himself in a tie for 52nd at six-under par. Senior Nathan Osborn is in a tie for 62nd after carding rounds of 72 (E) and 80 (+8) at eight-over par. Rounding out their lineup was freshman Zach Miller. Miller finished with rounds of 78 (+6) and 82 (+10) which leaves him in a tie for 93rd at 16-over par. 

The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow for the final round.
