Findlay in Second After Day One of NCAA Regionals

Winona, Minn. - The University of Findlay men's golf team is currently in a tie for second place at the NCAA Division II Midwest/Central Super Regional, which wrapped up day one today, May 11. The event is being held at the 6,778, par 71, Bridges Golf Course. They recorded an opening round 287 (+3) and are eleven strokes behind the leader, Grand Valley State. 

Leading the Oilers was junior Donnie Professori. He recorded an opening round 70 (-1) and is in a tie for seventh. Professori was five-under par heading into his final three holes but back-to-back double bogeys on 16 and 17 left him at one-under par on the day. His six birdies were the second most by any player in the field.

Senior Hunter Foltz put together a solid round for the Orange and Black. He is in a tie for 15th, carding a 71 (E). Foltz recorded four birdies and four bogeys.

Junior Justin Atkinson is in a tie for 21st after recording a round of 72 (+1). Senior Caleb Westfall shot a round of 74 (+3) and is in a tie for 39th. Rounding out the lineup for the Oilers is freshman Luke Metzger who carded a round of 76 (+4). He is in a tie for 63rd.

The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow for round two and then again Wednesday for the final round. The top six teams will then advance to the NCAA Division II National Championship which will be hosted in Warren, Ohio on May 22-26.
