Professori Qualifies for National Championship | Oilers Finish 8th

Winona, Minn. - The University of Findlay men's golf team finished in eighth place at the NCAA Division II Midwest/Central Super Regional, which wrapped up May 13. The event was held at the 6,778, par 71, Bridges Golf Course. They recorded rounds of 287 (+3), 296 (+12), and 300 (+16). The Oilers failed to advance to the national championship as a team as they finished outside of the top six. 

Leading the Oilers this week was junior Donnie Professori. He recorded rounds of 70 (-1), 73 (+2), and 72 (+1) to find himself in a tie for ninth at two-over par. In playoff fashion, Professori punched his ticket to Warren, Ohio as he was one of two individuals to advance. 

Junior Justin Atkinson finished at five-over par and in a tie for fifteenth. He carded rounds of 72 (+1), 71 (E), and 75 (+4). Senior Caleb Westfall finished in 55th after rounds of 74 (+3), 74 (+3), and 77 (+6). He was twelve-over par through the 54-holes. Senior Hunter Foltz shot rounds of 71 (E), 79 (+8), and 76 (+4) to finish in a tie for 61st at 13-over par. 

Rounding out the lineup for the Oilers was freshman Luke Metzger. He recorded rounds of 76 (+5), 78 (+7), and 77 (+6). He finished in a tie for 89th at 18-over par. 

The NCAA Division II National Championship will be hosted in Warren, Ohio on May 22-26.
