Professori Competes on First of Three Days at DII National Championship

Warren, Ohio – The NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championship is being hosted at Avon Lakes Golf Course in Warren, Ohio and the event began on Monday, May 22. The course is a par 72 that is playing at 7,287 yards. Findlay junior Donnie Professori is the lone participant for the Oilers, advancing to the event after placing highly in the Midwest Regional. He is the first individual in program history to qualify for the national championship.

Through 18 holes of play, Professori shot an opening round 79 (+7) and finds himself in a tie for 86th through one day of the three-day stroke play portion of the championship. The day began with a bogey on the first hole, but back-to-back birdies had the standout junior at one-under. He would finish the front nine at even-par 36. Some struggles began on the final nine holes as he would shoot a 43 on the second half of his day.

Professori will be back in action tomorrow for day two. He will tee off at 1:22 EST.
