Men's Soccer Looks For Improvement In 2011

The University of Findlay men's soccer team is coming off of a 4-10-3 season and will look to improve in 2011 under the guidance of head coach Andy Smyth, who has amassed a 174-187-33 in 22 years at the helm of the program.

Senior Corey Keister is the leading goal scorer who is returning as he found the net twice last season while sophomore Alex Oliver returns and is hoping to build on his inaugural season which netted him GLIAC Freshman of the Year honors.

The Oilers will open the season at home on September 1 when they host Northern Kentucky University.  They will then face Bellarmine University on September 4 at DeHaven Field before hitting the road to take on Lake Erie College (9/9) and Ashland University (9/11).

On September 16, the Oilers will be back at home to face Northwood University followed by a home match against Saginaw Valley State University on September 18.  They will then travel to Ohio Valley University (9/21) before ending the opening month at home against Ohio Dominican University (9/25).

The month of October begins with a home game against Tiffin University (10/2) and ends with two home games against Lake Erie College (10/28) and Ashland University (10/30).  Sandwiched in between those games will be a grueling stretch of matches on the road.  The Oilers will play Tiffin University (10/5), Oakland City University (10/12), Urbana University (10/14), Ohio Dominican University (10/16), Northwood University (10/19) and Saginaw Valley State University (10/22) during the stretch.

The GLIAC Tournament begins on November 3 and ends on November 5.
