Oilers Lose To Walsh 4-2

The University of Findlay men's soccer team lost to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opponent Walsh University 4-2 on Sunday, October 20 in Canton, Ohio.

The Cavaliers jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Chris Lynch scored off of an assist by Adam Gonia at the 7 minute mark. 

The Cavaliers extended their lead when Pat Julian scored off of an assist by Marc Julian at the 35 minute mark.  Then, at the 41 minute mark, Lynch scored his second goal of the contest off of an assist by Gonia. 

The Oilers got on the board when sophomore Ryan Poyle scored at the 59 minute mark.  His goal was assisted by junior Cullen Baron.

The Oilers struck again when senior Shane McGee scored off of an assist by senior Bryan Klek at the 85 minute mark.

The Cavaliers delivered the final punch when Lynch scored his third goal of the contest off of an assist by Brandon Frederick at the 86 minute mark. 

Although the Oilers out-shot the Cavaliers (21-8), they could not capitalize on their scoring opportunities.  

Findlay goalkeeper Joe McClanahan took the loss in the net and had three saves in the process. 

The Oilers, who are now 4-8-1 on the year with a 2-8 mark in GLIAC play, will face GLIAC foe Saginaw Valley State University on Friday, October 25 at DeHaven Field at 4 p.m.
