Oilers Beat by Cavaliers in Overtime

North Canton, OH-The University of Findlay men's soccer team was defeated by Walsh University in the first conference game of the season in overtime 3-2 Friday, September 9.  This loss gives the Oilers a 1-2-0 record overall and a 0-1-0 conference record. 

The Oilers and the Cavaliers finished the first half with no score in the game.  The Oilers outshot the Cavaliers 7-1 at the end of the first half. 

In the 65th minute, the Oilers capitalized on a goal from junior Peyton Shroeder with the assist from freshman Josh Dickinson

Walsh countered with two goals in the 72nd and 78th minutes to put the Oilers down 2-1.

Thirty minutes into the second half, sophomore Michael Shaikly received a game changing red card that left the Oilers down a man for the last fifteen minutes of the half. 

With less than three minutes to go in the game, Junior Peyton Shroeder scored again in the 87th minute to tie the Cavaliers 2-2 to end the half.

In the second overtime, Walsh scored with ten minutes to go to end the game 3-2. 

The Oilers will take the field again on Sunday, September 11 at Lake Erie College at 1:00pm.
