Oilers Fall to Salem International

Salem, WV– The University of Findlay men's soccer team took a road loss on Thursday, September 6 at 2:00 PM against the Salem International University Tigers. The final score was 2-1. The loss gives the Oilers a record of 0-3 on the season while the Tigers improve to 1-2.

The first 30 minutes of the match were scoreless until the Tigers were able to find the upper right corner of the net in the 36th minute. The Oilers went into the second half down by one. The Tigers then scored off of a through ball (57:31) to extend their lead by two.

Findlay sophomore Josh Hales put the Oilers on the board, scoring an unassisted goal in the 64th minute. The Oilers had 8 shots total in the second period, but were unable to make up two goal the deficit to win the game.  

Senior Josh Burton had three shots while freshmen Marcos Pion and Nathan Skrzyniecki each had one a piece. In goal, senior Nathan Sier took the loss with 4 saves. 

Findlay will be back on the road on Saturday, September 8 at 4:00 PM against G-MAC competitor, the Lake Erie College Storm.
