Oilers Pounce on Panthers

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay men's soccer team competed against G-MAC competitor Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday, October 11 at 4:00 PM. The Oilers shut out the Panthers with a final score of 3-0. Findlay is now 3-10 on the season with a conference record of 3-7. The Panthers are now 1-11-1 for the season and 0-9-1 in conference play.

The first half was a back and forth battle of possession. The Oilers had some great scoring opportunities with eight shots, four of which came from junior Josh Dickinson. Findlay's defense did a great job keeping the Panthers out of their offensive end, holding them to only one shot in the first half. Both teams finished the half scoreless.

In the second half, the Oilers finally put one on the board in the 59th minute. Josh Dickinson scored off an assist from sophomore Jack Atkinson. The goal gave the Oilers some much needed momentum as they continued to pressure the Panthers defense.

Shots continued to fire left and right by the Oilers with some going wide and even hitting the crossbar. Then, in the 73rd minute, Josh Dickinson took a corner kick that led to a goal by senior Josh Burton. The Oilers increased their lead over the Panthers to 2-0.

With less than three minutes remaining, Jack Atkinson was able to make some moves around the Panther defense to take a shot and score, sealing the deal for the Oilers to come out with a win.

The Oilers outshot the Panthers by an enormous margin of 20-2. Senior Nathan Sier was in goal to pick up his third win of the season.

The Oilers will be back at home playing against Tiffin on Saturday, October 13 at 1:00 PM.
