Oilers in 6th At GLIAC Championships
The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the second day of competition at the 2012 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship in Jenison, Michigan on Thursday, February 9. Both women and men are currently in sixth place with 128 and 106 points, respectively.
Annie Currin took eighth place in the 500 freestyle with a school record-breaking and NCAA "B" standard time of 5:07.89 to lead the way.
The women's 200 free relay team, consisting of Ailsa Hershaw, Tanya Tikhonova, Jill Herbst, Emily Thomas, took sixth overall with a new school record time of 1:37.11 in addition to a NCAA "B" standard time.
Hershaw placed tenth in the 200 IM with a "B" standard time of 2:08.69 while freshman Molly Cade took 12th in the same event (2:11.11). Cade, along with Thomas, Currin, and Kate Fisher rallied a seventh place finish in the 400 relay with a time of 3:59.40.
On the men's side, David Soutoul set a school record in the 200 IM with a "B" standard cut of 1:50.60 in his third place finish. Soutoul with the company of Diego Santos, Colton Sayers, and Colton Brauning snatched fifth in the 400 relay (3:30.79).
Sayers placed 16th in the 500 free (5:00.71) and Brauning took 16th in the 50 free (21.98). The 200 free relay team, including Brauning, Ryan Randall, David Conti, and Tim Andersson-Lind, finished sixth with a time of 1:27.75.
The Oilers will continue the event again tomorrow.
