3 New School Records Set As Oilers Complete Day 1 of GLIAC Championship

The University of Findlay men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the first day of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) conference championship on Wednesday, February 12 at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.  After completing day 1 the women are in fifth place while the men are in seventh.

On the women's side, Kaley Holmstrom won the GLIAC championship in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:04.35.  Her first place finish set a new school record and marked an NCAA "B" standard.  Ailsa Hershaw took eleventh place in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:07.90, which also qualified as an NCAA "B" standard.   

The relay team of Holmstrom, Hershaw, Jessica Ward and Molly Cade took fifth place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:45.29.  Their fifth place finish set a new school record and qualified as an NCAA "B" standard. 

Annie Currin took ninth place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:38.75. Ward finished eleventh place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.33 while Cade finished sixteenth with a time of 24.64.

Ashleigh Weddington took seventh place on the 3 meter board with a final score of 365.25. 

On the men's side, Todo Djurovic took fifth place in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:50.45.  His fifth place finish set a new school record and qualified as an NCAA "B" standard.

The relay team of Djurovic, Garrett Gardner, Aaron Mitchell and Cody Craig took sixth place in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:38.08. 

The Oilers will continue tomorrow and end the GLIAC championship on Saturday.
