Vales, Shockey Lead Oilers At Penn Relays

The University of Findlay men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the Penn Relays on Friday, April 29 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and were led by Raven Clay, who qualified for the finals in the 100-meter hurdles.

Clay finished eighth in the preliminary round of the event with a NCAA automatic qualifying time of 13.64.

On the men's side, Cory Vales took eighth in the high jump at 6'08.25 while Shane Shockey was ninth in the pole vault at 15'09.

Lyndon Johnson added an 11th place finish in the 100-meter dash at 10.74 and teamed with Curtis Smithey, John Guagenti and Greg Schaible to place 23rd in the 4x200 at 1:27.29.

The Oilers 4x400 team of Simon Bernard, Guagenti, Smithey and Schaible added a 30th place finish with a time of 3:16.56.

The event will continue tomorrow.
