Guagenti Wins GLIAC Winter Commissioner's Award

Senior John Guagenti of the Oilers track and field team has been selected for his second Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Commissioner's Award in as many years as the conference office announced their winter awards on May 16.

The awards, sponsored by Meijer, Incorporated, are presented after the Fall, Winter, and Spring athletic seasons to six female and six male student-athletes that excel both in the classroom and on the fields of play. All grade point averages are based on a 4.0 scale.

Guagenti was a member of the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team during the winter sports season with a 3.84 GPA.

A business management major, Guagenti was tabbed the 2011-12 Midwest Region Athlete of the Year, and the GLIAC Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year after winning both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes.

At the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championship, Guagenti earned All-American awards in the 400-meter and 4x400-meter relay.
