Vicars Receives Honor As Oilers Complete Sea Ray Relays

The University of Findlay men and women's track and field team completed the final day of the Sea Ray Relays on Saturday, April 13 in Knoxville, Ten.

Derrick Vicars set a new school record and placed first in the discus throw invitational event with a NCAA automatic qualifying toss of 183'06. He was also presented with the Tony Wilson Memorial Award as the men's field athlete of the meet.

In other field event action, Corey Shank took seventh in the pole vault with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 16'06.75 while Taylor Miller finished eighth in the discus invitational with a NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 161'05.

The 4x400-meter relay team of John Guagenti, Darren Johnson, Tim Sanders and Dillon Webster set a new school record and took fourth with a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 3:10.20 while Guagenti also finished sixth in the 400-meter showcase with a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 47.84.

On the women's side, Jessica Rowland finished 10th in the discus invitational event with a toss of 128'10 and took 12th in the shot put with a NCAA provisional qualifying heave of 45'03.75.

Kendra Averesch finished 10th in the shot put with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 45'11.25.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Maud Sanmiquel, Christine Zimmermann, Shelby Stump and Kirsten Gaerke finished 14th with a time of 3:51.21.

All-Ohio Results

Pam Showman was the lone competitor for the Oilers at the All-Ohio Championship in Athens, Ohio. She placed second in the heptathlon, setting a new school record with her NCAA provisional qualifying 4,561 points.
