Track Completes Day Two Of GLIAC Championship

The University of Findlay men and women's track and field team completed day two of the GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Thursday, May 2 in Ashland, Ohio.

Jessica Rowland led the women as this year's GLIAC champion in the javelin with a throw of 126'03. She also placed third in the discus with an NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 148'06.

Pam Showman placed third in the heptathlon with an NCAA provisional qualifying 4,865 points.

In men's finals, Derrick Vicars placed second in the discus with an NCAA provisional qualifying toss of 177'02, while Darren Bass took eighth with a toss of 156'07.

In the men's long jump, Darren Johnson finished fourth with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 23'06.00, and Tim Majoy finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 9:19.79.

There were also multiple preliminary events that took place.

Christine Zimmermann and Deidre Latham qualified for the 800-meter run finals with third (2:16.06) and seventh (2:17.41) place finishes, respectively.

Pam Showman took fourth in the 400-meter hurdles prelim with a time of 1:03.42, while Maud Sanmiquel took sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.61.

Alexa Stults will also compete in the 1,500-meter run finals with a 12th place prelim finish of 4:49.78.

For the men, Tim Sanders ran a sixth place, NCAA provisional qualifying time of 53:45 in the 400-meter hurdles prelims, while John Guagenti also had a provisional qualifying time of his own of 47.71 in the 400-meter dash prelim. Guagenti will also compete in the 200-meter dash finals with a sixth place time of 21.61, today.

Dillon Webster narrowly broke the school record in the 800-meter run prelim with a fifth place, NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:51.93.

The GLIAC Championships will conclude tomorrow.
