GLIAC Announces Academic Excellence Teams

The GLIAC office announced the Spring 2011 All-Academic Excellence Teams. To be eligible for recognition, the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, and must not be a freshman or first-year transfer.

Eight Findlay softball players earned a spot on the team, including seniors Calli Coppus and Jaci Messmer, juniors Nicole Morrow, Alyssa Schultz and Kate Streeter, and sophomores Carly Borders, Lauren Mathias and Julia Stalder. Borders, Coppus, Messmer and Streeter are education majors. Mathias, Morrow and Schultz are studying health professions. Stalder is a business major. UF had the most players named to the list, followed by seven from Saginaw Valley and six from Wayne State.

Four other UF softball players were named to the GLIAC All-Academic team, which recognizes those student-athletes with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 and are not freshmen or first-year transfers. Senior Kara Hochevar and sophomores Taylor Bell, Brittany Dauterman and Jenna Motuza represent Findlay softball on the list. Bell is a graphic design major while Dauterman, Hochevar and Motuza are all majoring in health professions.
