Oilers Split With Panthers

The University of Findlay softball team split a twin bill with Ohio Dominican University on Saturday, April 30, losing 7-1 in the opener before winning 9-6 in the nightcap. The split gives the Oilers a 23-21-1 record on the season with an 11-18 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

In the first game, Julia Stalder took the loss after allowing five runs on eight hits in three innings of work.

Calli Coppus, Brittany Dauterman, Kara Hochevar, Emily Reynolds and Courtney Dwyer each singled for the Findlay offense.

In the second game, Tawna Whited was victorious after allowing six runs, only four earned, in 6.1 innings of work while Jackie Messersmith picked up the save in relief.

Dauterman finished 3-for-5 at the plate with three runs-batted-in while Jaci Messmer went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Hochevar also finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow at Tiffin for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
