Oilers Picked to Finish 4th in South Division

The University of Findlay softball team was picked to finish fourth in the South Division of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) this season as the league office revealed their annual preseason poll on Feb. 1.

The Oilers received 11 points in the poll to tie Ohio Dominican University for fourth place in the South.  Tiffin University narrowly edged Ashland University in voting for the top spot in the South by a 23-22 margin.

In the North, Grand Valley State University received 24 points in the poll followed by Saginaw Valley State University, who earned 22.

The Oilers graduated several potent bats, but plan to field a young and talented team. Two juniors, pitcher/DP Brittany Dauterman (.400 AVG, 5 HR, 28 RBI) and leftfielder Jenna Motuza (.326 AVG, 41 R) will lead the offense, along with sophomore second baseman Tori Allen (.331 AVG, 4 HR, 33 RBI).

Sophomore Tawna Whited (7-4, 4.44 ERA) will lead the pitching staff during the 2012 campaign.
